The Giant Man from Giantland

There once was a giant man
Way up in the sky
Lived with his folks from Giantland
And watched us from that height

Old, bored and nearing his death,
The Giant feared nothing.
For nothing could surpass,
His passion for exploring.

He saw us as a world of blue
With patches of green and brown,
"Maybe I'll find something new",
He said, In a tiny little town."

So off he went to find a way
To end up on our world,
He tried almost everything,
And left no stone unturned.

With no luck he returned home,
Hoping his prayers be heard
He was just about to give up when
There showed up a wizard.

"Are you sure you want this?
Are you sure you want to go?"
"Yes dear wizard, I have nothing to lose,
Send me now for I demand so."

A little bit of magic,
And a bit of his power of will,
With these two things he woke up
Amongst the tiny people.

Smaller he was, but not at home,
Startled by what he saw
This world was run by savages,
Who seemed to know the law.

Wars, hatred and bigotry
Was what he noticed first,
Thinking to himself he said,
"This world is at its worst."

He did not seem to like it here
He felt all alone
Until he met a kind young man
Who made him feel at home.

"Why, oh friend are you so kind
When others like you are not?"
His eyes filled up with so much hope
He wanted to know a lot.

"Equality, peace and harmony
Are mainly what I believe in",
He listened on with rapt attention,
Without asking for reason.

"You will find more like me out there,
You just have to look,
Maybe the hope for a better world,
Will make you play by the book"

"There is a better world", he said
"That's from where I come,
I watched your world every day,
Thought it would be fun"

"Sadly I must go now,
My time here is over.
In a world like a mess,
Only hope can make it better."

And as the giant man left Earth
He grew back in size
Vanished far into space
Beyond sight of my naked eyes.

His words left me thinking
Why'd he feel that way?
Are we really so bad,
That he had to go away?

Why are we scared of the waves?
Ripples they used to be.
Chaos made them what they are,
And placed them in the sea.

As they crash at my feet
They seem to fade away
What could bring buildings down,
Beneath my feet it lay.

Maybe there is still hope,
To beat the enemy,
The worst enemy we could ever have
Is none other than we.

*End*
