Patience

Growing up, I often heard a lot of people say, 'Good things come to those who wait'. I never believed in that thought. I was a neophile and that led me to making many decisions which I'm living with. Come today, I am a 20 year old adult with almost everything checked off my to-do list. When I think back to the time I acted upon my neophilia, I should've slowed down. I should've been patient.

With the exception of 5 situations, patience can never be a vice. While I'm not the type to believe in 'destiny' I can tell you from experience that everything must happen in its own sweet time. Life is all about patience. There's no allotted time slot for the special moments in your life. They come by as time passes and when they do, you must cherish them; no matter what. You've waited your while for it to happen so you've earned the right to treasure it. Rush things faster than they're meant to happen and you'll find yourself waiting, alone for everyone else to catch up. Trust me, the wait is miserable.

Patience helps especially in the toughest times of your life. Try stepping into a sh*tstorm with a disturbed mind; you'll find yourself stuck in a larger mess than you were in before. If however, you handle the situation with a calm mind, you will have more time to break down the problem and find workarounds, if not solutions.

Impatience often leads to a chain of negative events in our lives. Our restless minds work towards finding unjustified reasons during the waiting period. This gives rise to several other unwanted brain activities, such as overthinking, fantasizing, imagining, expecting, worrying, doubting, etc. Why go through all that trouble when you know that the outcome will be positive, iff you display patience? Easier said than done, but if you think about it, more often than not, patience is the best way out of any tough spot.
