About time I decided to write here. I've been busy lately for the past month and that would mainly be because I partnered up with a friend from college to start our very own website. www.funfreek.com.
Now what does this mean for insiderstales? Nothing. I will continue to write here and you will see my posts on that website as well. Those will however be tech reviews mostly and my rants and philosophy will be laid out here.
So yesterday, the entrepreneurship cell of my college organised Mumbai's first college startup fest and my friend and I were planning to present our website to the investors. We had very little idea about a startup fest or how to get investors for real but we went there all the same. It was a fantastic event and I must say that the experience we gained was something we couldn't have done sitting at home.
There were numerous startup ideas and I must admit, we didn't stand a chance yesterday but we met fellow entrepreneurs who gave us suggestions on how we could build our product and then present it.
One very peculiar thing I noticed was the fact that many of the entrepreneurs had pressure from their parents to complete their education first. Now, I agree that parents are worried about their child's future and want them to be successful in life. No parent would want their kid to be jobless and homeless but what bothers me is the fact that nobody is willing to risk their child's future. What if your child has the next big idea which could possibly be a breakthrough in some field? That has to be a risk you should be willing to take otherwise no one will be able to bring their idea out to the world.
I face a similar problem at my home and while I understand how difficult it is for my parents to afford my education and other expenses, I would love it of for once they stopped to check out my idea and give me a boost rather than saying the statement, "Get a degree first, then do whatever you like.", time and again.
Not that I'm a patriot but if we want our country or the world to advance we need better ideas and unless, everyone learns to accept those and give them a chance, we will never advance and that means we, humans as a race will never progress.
Thank you for reading!
Stay tuned!
Toodles :)
