Random thoughts #2

What are we? Humans? Living beings?
No.
That's what we call ourselves but are we really that significant?
To ourselves, yes. We try to control our little worlds with all of these different abstract concepts such as emotions. We keep changing our mood according to whatever is happening with us because we are programmed to do so by ourselves, by our parents, some would say by God, but I'm an atheist so, yeah.

Now, our emotions, our thoughts, just like these random thoughts of mine, they are capable of doing many things. Emotions are often contagious as seen by us smiles spread, laughter spreads, sadness spread. I do not know all the science behind how all of this works, pretty confusing stuff, complex neurons being fired like a speed post delivery system but what mainly intrigues me is the memory. How much memory does a person have? I have an eidetic memory and I really want to know how many terrabytes of data will all of the data in my brain amount to? Is there even that much virtual storage space available? Can I live eternally by transferring my conscience to a storage system? AI is improving vastly, robots can do almost everything that humans can do with much more efficiency yet they lack something or the other that differentiates them from us.

What did I achieve by saying all of this?
Nothing.
My point is all of life is a concept, life in itself is a concept. We spend our lives chasing a purpose, be it a job, a dream we want to fulfil or something we want to achieve. Why do we do this? Why do we spend our lives with a goal when the basis of our existence is a mere concept? We are evolved enough to understand better, some would say, but what if we aren't? What if we've complicated life so much beyond that unicellular organism that first showed up on the planet that we can't go back? Pressing an undo button might crash the system hence we have to go on with this and I am not even including the evils like terrorism.

We are a mere species that can communicate better but Einstein was right about relativity. It all depends on the frame of reference. We are so tiny that we cannot see the big picture even if we'd like to. A 2D object gives a 1D shadow, a 3D object gives a 2D shadow, and 4D object gives a 3D shadow. Similarly, we might be the figment of someone's imagination, some 11 dimensional being with a 10 dimensional shadow and a 3 dimensional dream.

We are tiny. We exist. Let's make the most of it while we can.

Bleh.
Thank you for reading.
Stay tuned.
